In this case, the driver was rear ended and the driver's seatback collapsed, causing the driver to lose control. The car rolled over and the driver's door opened during the rollover, rendering the door mounted seatbelt useless and causing the driver to become ejected.The driver suffered fatal injuries. The case against the car manufacturer settled for a confidential amount.

This vehicle's tailgate opened up during a rollover accident, leaving a large ejection portal, resulting in the death of a child. Our research revealed numerous other accidents involving the same model vehicle in which the tailgate -- made out of a fiberglass-like material -- broke open.
