Helping Those in Need

At Gilbert, Ollanik & Komyatte, we have a strong belief in the importance of contributing to local charitable organizations.  Our strong commitment to the community is reflected in the many ways our attorneys and staff donate their time and money.

Dolls for Daughters

Gilbert, Ollanik & Komyatte is proud to serve as a drop-off location for Dolls for Daughters.
Dolls for Daughters has officially kicked off its annual holiday drive to collect new, unwrapped dolls for girls facing homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect. This year’s goal is to collect 800 dolls. Donations will be distributed to several charities during the holiday season for girls who would not otherwise receive a gift during the holidays. A few of these charities include: Warren Village, Samaritan House, Denver Children’s Home, The Gathering Place and SafeHouse Denver. The Dolls for Daughters mission is to put a smile on the faces of underprivileged children and to help struggling families get on their feet in the Denver Metro Community.

Please bring your donations to our office anytime Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm. Our office is located at
5400 Ward Rd
Building IV, Suite 200
Arvada CO 80002
The holiday drive ends December 18.

The 2009 Race for The Cure

As a firm, we joined thousands of people in supporting this years annual Susan G. Komen race for the cure. Millions of people around the word are affected by breast cancer every day. It is important to ensure everyone can access quality care, regardless of race, income, geographic location, or insurance status. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. We encourage everyone to join us in raising awareness and funds to help fight breast cancer.

Light the Night

As a firm, we made a donation to Denver’s annual “Light the Night” walk, as a sponsor to fellow attorney Dan Patterson. Light the Night walk is organized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As the world's largest voluntary health organization, the society has been dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services for over 60 years. Light the Night walks take place on the same night in communities throughout the nation. Thousands of participants carry illuminated balloons and raise funds for vital, lifesaving research and patient services for those battling leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Mr. Gilbert personally attended the Denver walk and commented on the extremely warm sprit of the night. Although this years Denver walk has passed, it is not too late to donate to this wonderful organization. Children’s Hospital Burn Unit

In our continued efforts to support the Children’s Hospital, last week Mr. Gilbert personally went down to make a donation and visit the burn unit at the Children’s Hospital in Denver. Many of our clients have been treated at Children’s and we are happy to give back to such a great organization. The Children’s Hospital of Denver is the only pediatric burn center in the Rocky mountain region. Treating approximately 300 children a year, the burn team (comprised of physicians, nurses, social workers and physical therapists) is committed to providing the highest standard of burn care. With state of the art facilities and treatment methods, the burn unit treats patients in the acute period while in the hospital, as well as provides extensive outpatient care.

The Burn Unit at Children’s Hospital is gearing up for their 26th annual Burn Camp. Hosted every year during the 3rd week of August at Cheley Camp in Estes Park, the camp gives child burn victims a unique opportunity to enjoy the therapeutic beauty of the Rocky Mountains. For more information on how to get involved in the camp, contact the Children’s Hospital Burn Camp program at 720/777-8295.

Fighting Fire

Paul Komyatte at a local elementary
school doing a fire safety presentationThere's more than one way to help people in need in our community. That's why Gilbert, Ollanik, and Komyatte attorney Paul Komyatte has joined the Genessee Volunteer Fire Department.  Paul completed several hours of training this year, and passed the certification examinations, allowing him to respond (as his case duties permit) to in-town and wildfire calls when they arise in his community.  Congratulations, Paul, and be careful out there!

Breathin' is Believin'

The Cody Dieruf Benefit Foundation

Not everyone can take an act as simple as breathing for granted.  Cystic Fibrosis (CF), the most common genetic disease afflicting children and young adults, attacks the lungs of its young victims.  Gilbert, Ollanik, and Komyatte attorney Anne Dieruf knows this well.  In April, 2005, her 23 year old sister-in-law, Cody, lost her courageous battle with this disease.  That's why Anne and her family devote so much time and energy to helping others battling CF.  Among other services, they help children from the Rocky Mountain West with Cystic Fibrosis to visit Children's Hospital in Denver, a leading CF treatment and research institution.  Each June, the Foundation (an IRS approved non-profit organization) holds its Walk and Auction for Cystic Fibrosis in Anne’s home state of Montana.  If you can’t make it to Bozeman June 21, you can still support the effort:

Help Find a Cure for Alzheimer's Disease

This horrible disease affects millions of Americans -- including those who suffer directly as it erases their memories and abilities and eventually their lives, and those who care for them. Through the month of June, all donations to the Alzheimer's Association will be doubled by a donor who is providing matching donations.  Join us in making this important fundraising drive a success.  We are donating and raising funds specifically earmarked for the very promising research that may someday soon halt, or even reverse, the debilitating effects of this terrible disease.  Send your contributions to:

Make Miracles Happen. Become a Miracle Maker for Children’s Hospital

Join us in becoming a Miracle Maker to support Children’s Hospital. At Gilbert, Ollanik & Komyatte, we are especially proud to become ‘Miracle Makers’ for Children’s Hospital. As the leading care provider for children across the U.S., Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit pediatric healthcare network dedicated to caring for kids at all ages and stages of growth. By donating to Children’s hospital, we, as a society, can assure that every child has access to the highest quality of care.  To make a donation log onto www.thechildrenshospital.org or www.childrensmiraclenetwork.org.

We support Children’s Hospital throughout the year, because all of us at this firm have been touched by its good work.  Jim Gilbert’s daughter is a surgical nurse at Children’s, and he hears on a regular basis about the kids helped by the first rate medical staff.  Stuart Ollanik’s friend was treated at Children’s after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in middle school, and Stuart joins this family each year in riding the Courage Classic to raise much needed funds for the hospital.  Anne Dieruf’s family foundation, www.breathinisbelievin.org, helps children with Cystic Fibrosis in other states make their way to Children’s Hospital, where the care is second to none. And many of our clients have been helped by the folks at Children’s, who are not only among the best health care professionals in the nation, but also some of the nicest, most supportive folks you will ever meet, helping families in crisis in many ways.
